Product Description
Common use

Urispas is a blocker of M-cholinoreceptors. The medication relaxes the muscles of the urinary tract. Urispas is used to treat pain, burning, urinary urgency and frequency symptoms caused by overactive bladder, nocturia (the awakening from sleep at night to pass urine), dysuria, prostate enlargement, bladder infections such as cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis (symptomatic treatment), or irritation of the urethra. The maximum effect is achieved in two hours after the medication intake.



Dosage and direction

Adults and children over 12 years of age should take this medication orally by 100-200 mg 3-4 times a day. The dose may be reduced when the symptoms become less serious.



Precautions

Inform your doctor if you are allergic to flavoxate, have narrow-angle glaucoma, or if you have problems with urination, a blockage in your digestive tract (stomach or intestines). This medication may also cause drowsiness or blurred vision which may be dangerous if you need to perform activities associated with high concentration of attention such ad driving or operating machinery. Do not start or stop any other medication without approval of your doctor. Inform your health care advisor about all medications, herbal products and food supplements you use. If you have serious side effects such as confusion, pounding heartbeats, hot and dry skin, fluttering in your chest, or if you stop urinating, inform your doctor immediately and stop taking the drug.



Contraindications

Urispas is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity, obstructive diseases of the urinary tract, obstructive intestinal lesions, stomach and duodenal ulcerations, intestinal obstruction, achalasia (the inability of the lower esophageal sphincter to open and let food pass into the stomach), gastrointestinal bleeding, angle-closure glaucoma, in children under 12 years of age.



Possible side effect

The most common side effects are headache, dizziness, drowsiness, anxiety, paresis of accommodation, reduction in visual acuity, increased intraocular pressure. In rarely cases confusion is possible. Other possible adverse reactions include spinning sensation, tachycardia, leukopenia, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, rash, dermatitis, hyperpyrexia (a fever with an extreme elevation of body temperature).



Drug interaction

Inform your doctor if you take other bladder or urinary medicines including tolterodine (Detrol), , oxybutynin (Oxytrol, Ditropan), solifenacin (Vesicare), darifenacin (Enablex).



Missed dose

Never take a double dose of this medication. If it is almost time of the next dose just skip the missed portion and continue to take the medicine according to the schedule.



Overdose

Symptoms of Urispas overdose are unknown, inform your doctor if you suspect overdose because any medicine taken in excessive quantities may be dangerous.



Storage

Store tablets at room temperature between 15-30 C (59-86 F) in a dry tight container away from moisture and sunlight.
